Monrovia Newborn and Family Photography

I’m back from maternity leave and already super busy.  This is a newborn photo shoot with my friend, Jayme and her family.  Her new little girl is Kaizlee, who was 7 days old at the time of the shoot.  I love that Kaizlee is a big healthy newborn – she was over 11 pounds when she was born!  She is adorable.

Kaizlee’s big brother, Joncee loves her soooooo much.

I love this family portrait.  They are so sweet together.

I often ask clients if they have any unique baskets or bowls that they would like to use in the photo shoot.  Jayme and her husband had this special basket that was signed by their whole youth ministry when they left.  What a nice keepsake.  Kaizlee looks so comfortable in it.

I’m not a big fan of bows on baby girls (maybe it’s my jealousy of having two boys).  But I loved this brown bow with her sweet little pink blanket.  She looks so peaceful.

And finally, Kaizlee in her bassinet.  Those little toes are so yummy – I just want to nibble on them.

Thanks for having me take pictures of the new addition to your family.  I loved spending the afternoon with your family.

I was so happy, when my friend Aime asked me to take pictures of their family for mother’s day.  Their family is so cute and playful – I couldn’t have asked for a better shoot.  As I entered, I noticed this adorable hand painted sign, which had been their mother’s.  I thought it would be perfect to start off the shoot with something so meaningful to them.  Here’s baby Luke waking from his nap.

And here is cute little Luke.  I love the sign!

Daddy got him up from his nap.

We spent some time playing with mom.

And as a family.

Luke is such a quick crawler.  These next two are some of my very favs from the session, but it took many tries because he is so fast!

I don’t think he liked being hindered from his crawling efforts.

So we went outside for a little bit to let him get some energy out.  Much happier.

Then we went back into the nursery and used some of his adorable furniture, like this laundry basket.

And step stool.

But Luke really just wanted to crawl.

These cute little bunnies are Luke’s “lovey”.  The one with the missing ear is the original bunny.  Even though his parents got him some duplicates – he definitely knows the difference!

My friend Laura contacted me to take pictures of her son Jack’s baptism in January.  The day didn’t end up working out with my schedule, but it was just as well because Jack got pretty sick all weekend.  So the following weekend, we arranged a photo shoot for their little family and happily, Jack was feeling much better.  Jack was about 6 months old, which is a perfect age for a family photo shoot because the babies are interested and happy and often can sit up on their own around this time.  Here is adorable Jack:

Jack was happy to pose for me, while mom and dad got a moment to themselves.

Love those piercing eyes.

Whoa, mom and dad – what are you doing up there?

Since no one’s paying attention, guess I’ll eat some toes.

Some fun times with dad and mom.

Since we didn’t take photos at the baptism, Laura brought his christening outfit for a few photos.  As it turns out, he was much more interested in his candle than solo shots in his outfit.

Jack wasn’t too happy when the candle was taken away.  I love his little scrunched up nose.

So next we tried to take some photos in Jack’s adorable knitted hat.  I had seen it before, so I asked Laura to bring it to the shoot.  These type of props are so cute on little babies.  But I think Jack was still a little mad that he couldn’t eat the candle so we got a cute little grumpy face instead.

For a change of pace, I followed them back to their home to take a few last photos before Jack’s nap.  I loved how Laura decorated Jack’s nursery.  Here is one of my favorite shots of the shoot.  I love the intimacy of Jack and Laura with his name in the background.

Here he is in his cute little crib.  The blue and brown star mobile was my favorite.

And this sign that says, “Once in a blue moon”.

This is my next favorite shot of the day.  It looks so peaceful and serene with little Jack sucking his thumb in the background.

Thanks for inviting me to take photos of your adorable family, Laura.  I hope you love them as much as I do.  :)
