Pasadena Engagement Photography

Artin and Virginia are getting married in October.  As we planned their engagement session, we discussed what location would show their personalities best.  They both love old architecture, so they wanted to find an artistic place with beautiful architecture.  We decided to start the session at the Pasadena playhouse, with it’s 40’s Spanish influenced architecture.

We headed to the alley for these shots, and conveniently found a sign for the alley.

Then we headed to Old Town Pasadena to walk around and see what interesting things we could find.  Both Artin and Virginia like the vintage, textured look in photographs, so I processed many of these using grungy textures.  Artin was pretty familiar with the downtown bar scene, so he showed us some good spots.

I think this may be my favorite of the day, but it’s sooo hard to chose – I love too many of them.

This kind bus driver humered us with a few pictures.  You can’t see in this photo, but he’s laughing.  :)

Artin and Virginia weren’t so sure about this one – it’s definitely not for grandparent’s eyes.  But I think it’s great.

After the session, we stopped at a little Italian restaurant for a glass of wine.

I met Viviene, Matt and their 4 month old son, Jasper a few weeks ago.  Viviene had heard about me through the Koala Club – a baby wearing support group.  It was great to hear such nice compliments from the group about my photography.  I’m so glad Viviene contacted me to set up their family session.  Viviene and Matt are very involved and caring parents.  They not only wear their baby, but also use cloth diapers with homemade knit covers.  Here is a picture of Jasper’s adorable diaper cover:

After some time with dad, Jasper got tickled by mama on his feet and tummy.  He has such a cute giggle.

Then we tried some naked bum portraits of Jasper.  I love his expression in this one.

And his cute elf hat.

Jasper started getting irritated by the pressure to look so adorable.  :)

His pacifier calmed him, while we made plans to travel to nearby Elysian Park for a few family shots.

Jasper fell asleep on the 5 minute drive over, but that’s okay because we still got some sweet family shots.

LOVED Viviene’s Mai Tai.

Finally, Jasper woke up in time for a few last shots before the sun set.

I had so much fun hanging out with your family for the afternoon.  I hope to see you guys again soon.  :)
